Capel Rug Company’s story began in 1917 with Leon Capel branching out from his GEE-HAW Plowline to fashion his first line of braided area rugs, this line was aptly name “New Departure”.

Fast forward to the 1930’s, our country was deeply entrenched in the great depression and times were certainly tough. This did not deter young Leon Capel from keeping his company from growing. In fact, in 1936 Mr. Capel bought his first spinning mill to keep up with the increased demand for his high quality braided rugs.

By the 1960’s Capel Rug Company was exploring new opportunities. By the time Capel Rug Co had truly become a generational business with the addition of Leon’s son’s joining the business. During this time Capel expanded their line of offerings outside the world of braided rugs. This would include wool hand tufted and a fresh new concept at the time, outdoor rugs.

By the end of the 1970’s Capel had grown to over 400 employees and had earned the title of “America’s Oldest & Largest Importer and Manufacturer” of area rugs. Today Capel continues to maintain the its firm footing in the world of area rugs by committing itself to provide quality and fashionable products to the consumer.

Braided Rugs are certainly Capel’s staple and it is what they truly do best. Among some of our favorites are;

It’s been about 6 months since we first added Dalyn Rugs as a new brand and let me tell you have they been popular! Our customers have really taken to Dalyn’s great use of color, high quality construction and wallet friendly prices.  In recent months we have been getting calls and email requests about Dalyn’s popular shag collection, Casual Elegance. We weren’t in that big of a hurry to get the shag collection online because if you’ve seen one shag you’ve seen them all. Well anyway that’s what I thought. So as the requests came in from our shoppers I thought maybe it would be a good idea to see one of these for myself. I ordered in a 5 x8 for our showroom in Pennsylvania and I was blown away by the difference in the feel of this collection. Two other pluses we found in these rugs were the range in colors and sizes they come in.
